The plant will increase the electricity supply to the southern part of the country.

Located at the the La Convención Province and Urubamba in the region of Cuzco at 2,438 masl. The power plant will use turbine waters of Machupicchu I and II Hydroelectric Power Plants, this to generate around 722 GWh of annual energy. This is a run-of.river power plant, it does not require a reservoir or a dam. The work was carried out by the Italian Peruvian Consortium - Astaldi & GyM - and the project is owned by Luz del Sur.
